Cyprus has become one of the most attractive destinations in Europe for digital nomads, and with the government reopening applications in 2025 and expanding the cap, the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa is now more accessible than ever.
What Is the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa?
The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa allows non-EU/EEA nationals to live in Cyprus for up to three years while working remotely for a foreign employer or clients. It grants an initial one-year stay with the possibility of renewing for up to two more years.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the digital nomad visa in 2026, you must:
- Use telecommunications technology to perform work remotely from Cyprus
- Work for an employer or clients based abroad (not Cypriot companies)
- Prove a minimum net monthly income of β¬3,500 (stable and sufficient)
- The income threshold increases by 20% for a spouse and 15% per minor child
- Demonstrate you have suitable accommodation in Cyprus
- Hold health insurance with at least β¬30,000 coverage valid in Cyprus
A fundamental requirement is the absence of economic interaction with the local Cypriot labor market: the visa holder must not be employed by Cypriot companies or provide services to residents of Cyprus.
Required Documents
Prepare the following before applying:
- Valid passport (at least 3 months validity) plus a copy
- Proof of remote employment (employment contract or freelance/project contracts)
- Proof of income (salary slips, bank statements from the last 6 months)
- Medical test results (blood analysis and chest X-ray)
- Health and accident insurance certificate valid in Cyprus (minimum β¬30,000 coverage)
- Clean criminal record certificate from your country of origin
- Proof of accommodation in Cyprus (rental agreement or proof of property purchase)

How to Apply: Step by Step
- Enter Cyprus on a tourist visa or visa-free entry (depending on your nationality).
- Gather and prepare documents β all documents must be translated into Greek or English.
- Submit your application in person within three months to the Civil Registry and Migration Department (CRMD).
- Pay the fees β β¬70 application fee plus β¬70 for the Alien Registration Certificate per person.
- Wait for processing β typically 5 to 7 weeks.
- Receive your permit β you can stay in Cyprus while awaiting the decision.
Alternatively, you may submit the application through a Cypriot consulate in your home country.
Important Rules to Know
- 90-day absence rule: Your permit will be cancelled if you leave Cyprus for more than 90 consecutive days.
- Tax residency is separate: Obtaining the visa does not automatically make you a tax resident. Tax residency is determined by the 183-day rule (spending more than 183 days in Cyprus per calendar year).
- Family members (spouses and underage children) can join you but must not engage in economic activity in Cyprus.
Why Choose Cyprus?

- Mediterranean lifestyle β 340+ days of sunshine, beautiful beaches, and excellent food
- Safety β Cyprus is the 13th safest country in the world
- EU membership β access to EU healthcare and services
